Accessibility Statement
Last updated June 7, 2026
We want everyone who wishes to practice with us to be able to reach the cushion, in person and online. Accessibility is part of the welcome, not an afterthought.
Our commitment
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We build with that standard in mind and keep improving as the site grows.
What we have done
- Semantic structure. Proper headings, landmark regions, and a skip-to-content link help assistive technology move through each page.
- Keyboard access. Every interactive element can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Real contrast. Our sumi-on-washi text palette is chosen to meet the Level AA contrast ratios for readable type.
- Readable type and motion. Generous text sizes, a calm reading measure, and a single gentle page-load animation that respects a reduced-motion preference.
- Meaningful alternatives. Descriptive alt text on content images, with decorative textures marked so screen readers skip them.
Access to the practice itself
A steady, upright posture is the only aim, and chairs are always available for anyone for whom sitting on the floor is hard. Once our meeting place is confirmed, we will post its physical access details, including step-free entry, parking, and seating, on the Schedule and FAQ pages. If you have a specific need, tell us and we will do our best to make a way.
Known limitations
This is a young site, and some details will be refined over time. If you meet a barrier anywhere, on the site or at a sitting, we would be grateful to hear about it so we can fix it.
